Happy New Year! Whether with champagne or sleep or something in between, I hope your New Year’s celebration was wonderful.
We stayed home for our midnight celebration. Our son, Waylon, tried as hard as he could to stay awake ’til midnight but fell asleep on the couch at 11:30. So, it was just Nick and me celebrating at the turn of the new year together, with a lil’ bit of champagne.
As the clock struck twelve, Nick plugged in his guitar and woke up our sleepy mountain neighborhood with a rock and roll rendition of Auld Lang Syne. You can see my slightly tipsy, champagne-soaked video of the moment on Instagram.
These past few days I have been pouring over my editorial calendar and preparing some inspiring posts for you all. We’ve also been planning out a calendar for home renovations.
We have a list of musts – like renovating the upstairs bathroom that is completely unusable right now because of a leak. (The joys of living in a ninety-year-old mountain house!) And we have a list of things that are purely cosmetic – like painting the dining room and office.
Of course, I wish I could start with the cosmetic stuff, but for now, it is the stuff of dreams.
So, since my office renovation isn’t happening anytime soon, I thought I’d share with you the art calendars I fell in love with while I was looking for one to hang next to my desk.
✻ The Lunar Calendar by Sonya & Nina Montenegro of TheFarWoods on Etsy.
This lunar calendar will keep you up-to-date on the phases of the moon as you move through 2018. As with the rest of the calendars I have chosen to share with you, this one is a work of art to be contemplated as you daydream at your desk. The poster calendar measures 11×17″ and is $20 in the Etsy shop.

✻ Vintage Indian Blockprint Calendar by Auria of VintageFables on Etsy.
As a collector of vintage clothing and fabrics, I really love the inspiration behind this calendar. Auria of Vintage Fables is a self-described hoarder of Indian block print fabric. In order to share her passion, she has created her 2018 calendar with scanned images of her favorite fabric prints. It is offered as an 8×10″ wall calendar (above), as well as a small wall calendar and a desk calendar. The calendar pictured above is $42 in the Etsy shop.
✻ 2018 Calendar by artist Emily Magone.
This wall calendar by Emily Magone features paintings by the artist as well as dates of the new and full moon for each month. Her artwork is inspired by nature and will transport you to the middle of a hazy forest, or to outer space. Each calendar comes with a big clip for hanging on the wall and is $30 on her website.

✻ The 2018 Sleeping Giants Calendar by Andrea Durfee of Louelle Design Studio.
This limited edition calendar features original landscape artwork and rich letterpress calendar text. It is printed on 12 individual 4×6 cards. Andrea’s artwork will transport you to nature, even while you are working at your desk. It is currently $27 in the shop.
