So far our year is off to a good start.  We were lucky enough to cross paths with a big black bear on the second day of the new year.  Isn’t that supposed to be a good omen?

I was doing dishes in our kitchen when the motion sensor light at our back door went on.  Usually, the lights in front of the garage and our workshop will light up when foxes, cats, and other animals pass by, but rarely does the light right at our back door sense anything.

So I looked out the kitchen window and there was a big bear right there, looking back me.  Of course, we were all too excited to think to take a picture of the beautiful animal.  She climbed the stairs in our backyard, stopped to stare at all of us for a few seconds, then walked away.

So in honor of our neighborhood bear, I am featuring this bear painting by artist Twyla McGann.  I love that this bear is on a floral background like she is standing in front of a wall covered in vintage wallpaper.  Follow Twyla to stay up to date on her #1000facechallenge for 2018.
