My family and I have been celebrating the warm weather with the biggest Spring cleaning session in history. There were so many organizational projects we hadn’t tackled after moving into our home a year and a half ago which are finally finished.
Now that we are all done with cleaning, we have started beautifying our front deck. My three-year-old son Waylon and I have been filling vintage and terracotta flower pots with soil and planting flower bulbs. Our goal is a little flower garden to surround our patio furniture where we like to sit with tea or coffee to enjoy morning sunshine and our tall, tall cedars.
Yesterday our first sprouts poked up through the soil and now I, who have never had a green thumb, am hooked on growing. I have been laying out some pretty serious veggie gardening plans for next Spring. I’d probably be planning a Winter garden if it weren’t for this little baby who is due in August.
You’ll be convinced that I have flowers on my mind after you scroll through my web inspiration for this month!
Since inauguration day, I have been so impressed by the artists who have stepped up to sell their art to benefit causes that so desperately need our help. Lindsay @_stillwerise on Instagram has put together a huge auction of handcrafted and independently designed wares. The proceeds will benefit Planned Parenthood and the National Resources Defense Council.
Read the story behind the stained glass cabin Neile Cooper created on her forested property. Tell me this isn’t the perfect space for a morning yoga sesh! You can also browse Neile Cooper’s Etsy shop Neile for stained glass home decor and jewelry.
In his series titled Flowers and Swirls, London photographer Mark Mawson captures the fleeting, floral-like moments of mixed, multi-colored liquids. Follow his Instagram to see the other projects he is working on!
Tessa Perlow of TessaPerlowInc on Etsy shows us the process behind her embroidery in this blog post by A Pair & A Spare. I love that she upcycles secondhand garments and gives them a vibrant new existence with her stitches. Be sure to check out her Instagram feed for some serious eye candy!
